Our topic is SOCIAL LOAFING
These are OUR hypothesis and predictions
We have two predictions. First, if participants are told that their individual total score will be the basis of the best performance, then they will attempt to solve more problems than those who are told their score will be pooled with the scores of two other participants (resulting in either a group total score or a group average score), with no differences expected between these two group-based conditions. Second, since prior research suggests that people tend to think that they themselves do not engage in social loafing, we predict that all participantsregardless of their study conditionwill agree that they worked harder than the average participant.
THIS IS A BUILD UP PAPER.NOW WE ARE DOING PAPER 2 WHICH IS
Study One Methods, Results, and Discussion
The psychological purpose behind Paper II is to make sure you can tell your reader what you did in your study, how you did it, and what you found. By now you have read several empirical studies in psychology, and you should be familiar with the Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Now is your chance to write your own Methods, Results and Discussion!
Like the studies you looked at for Paper 1, you will provide information about your participants, materials, and procedure in your Methods section.
Your participant section goes first, and it includes descriptive statistics about your sample (means and standard deviations for age as well as percentages for gender and race/ethnicity). Your materials and procedure sections include information about what you did and how you did it. You should write this section for an audience who is unfamiliar with your specific study, but assume that they do know research methods. Thus educate your reader about your materials and procedure, giving enough detail so they could replicate the study. This includes explicitly describing your independent and dependent variables and talking about how you presented those variables to your participants.
My suggestion is to look over the articles that you summarized in Paper I and see how they wrote their Methods. This will give you a good idea regarding the level of depth and detail you need in your own Methods section.
Your Results section follows. The purpose of this section is to make sure you can show how you analyzed the data and describe what you found. You will have a lot of help in this section from your lab materials (especially your lab powerpoint presentations).
Finally, I want you to include a short discussion of your findings. Tell me if you supported or did not support your hypotheses and explain why you got those results (you can actually speculate here if you like but make it educated speculation!)
2. The APA formatting purpose
The second purpose of Paper II: Methods, Results and Discussion is to once again teach you proper American Psychological Association (APA) formatting for these sections.
Finally, this paper is intended to help you figure out how to write a Methods, Results, and Discussion section. Make sure that you write this for an audience familiar with APA methods and results, but also for someone who needs you to tell them what you found.
I uploaded Study One Loafing FINAL Data This data file includes ALL participants collected by ALL students across different sections of the course, and it is this data set that will serve as the bases for your Paper II. In fact, you should NOT mention anywhere in your paper that you collected (3) three participants the sections of the class collected data from 195 participants, and this is the sample you will use for Paper II. Be sure to read very carefully and follow the instructions provided in the Week 5 Lab PPT slides. The presentation will walk you through step-by-step how to analyze this data as well as how to interpret the tables that SPSS spurts out, so pay close attention to them! you are required to include it in your Paper II (i.e., Tables).
In terms of Dependent Variables (DVs), for t-test, as well as ANOVA, you can choose any two scaled DV (that has a range as in 0 to 10) you want; just make sure it relates to your Study One hypotheses.
TIPS: I suggest you take a look at the STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER 2. but I will give you a quick review on it. So, for paper 2 each student was given 3 participants with questionnaires filled in with answers (Individual, group total and group average). which is where we get our DATA from. After that, our professor added ALL of her students information into 1 document and that added up to 195 participants total which is the document uploaded under 22Fall SPSS DATA. This is a software which I am not sure if you might be able to open it but just in case you cant I can upload all the screenshots for you to see all the DATA. For this paper you will be writing the methods, results and discussion. PLEASE I BEG YOU. REFER back to the paper 2 example uploaded so you get an idea on how EXACTLY PAPER 2 SHOULD LOOK Like BUT OBVIOUSLY WITH THE GIVEN DATA. I have paid for 8 pages. Please DO NOT cut it short because of this. If you see that you will need more papers, please feel free to contact me and I Will proceed with this. The example paper has 12 pages this is why Im telling you this. but like I said do not hesitate to contact me if actually needed more pages.
I will be VERY extremely picky on this paper because it must contain tables/charts , just as in the example paper uploaded and everything included in it.
PLEASE VERY IMPORTANT MAKE SURE TO READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS AND FOLLOW STEP BY STEP WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THIS PAPER. USE THE RUBRIC AND CHECKLIST AS I MYSELF WILL BASE OFF THIS PAPER BEFORE APPROVING IT BY THE CHECKLIST AND RUBRIC.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ME ANYTHING YOU NEED IN REGARD TO THE PAPER AND I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS FOR YOU IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BE CLEAR ON WHAT IS NEEDED AND FOR IT TO BE A GREAT PAPER. I AM HERE TO HELP IN ANYTHING I CAN
