1. A) President / Executive – A serious economic crisis takes place in the U.S. Due to this emergency, the President decides to run for a third term.
B) Congress / Legislative – Congress passes a law taxing 10% on lumber being exported.
C) Courts / Judicial – The Supreme Court rules that the government may not issue patents because of the need for technological advance.
2. A) President / Executive – The President declares war on China.
B) Congress / Legislative – Congress passes a law that people from Washington may not drive cars in Oregon because of pollution.
C) Courts / Judicial – Since Washington D.C. is not a part of any state, residents there may not vote in presidential elections.
3. A) President / Executive – The President his son-in-law to Senator Schumer’s seat when he resigns due to a personal scandal.
B) Congress / Legislative – The House of Representatives impeaches President Trump because he issues a series of pardons that the members of the House believe have corrupt reasons.
Courts / Judicial – The Court rules that because of our large national debt, the U.S. can no longer borrow money.
4. President / Executive – To fight terrorism, the President issues an executive order that anyone found guilty of hijacking will be punished by having his or her fingernails ripped off.
B) Congress / Legislative – Congress passes a law making electronic vapes illegal and fining any store that sold them over the past 5 years liable for thousands of dollars in fines depending on how much they have sold.
C) Courts / Judicial – The Court decides rules that no government official will take an oath of office in order to keep religion out of the nation’s politics.
5. A) President / Executive – The President orders that a mass murderer be sent back to Washington from Oregon.
B) Congress / Legislative- A House member dies and the House declares a four-day recess to mourn. The Senate orders the House to only take two days off so that legislation can be passed before the next recess.
C) Courts / Judicial – The Court rules that the heads of executive departments may no longer make appointments of inferior officers, but rather that the President must make such appointments himself.
