Course Textbook for reference if needed: Gang Leader for a Day – by Sudhir Venkatesh
What Are Your Pushes and Pulls?
Given our conversation about the various “pushes” (societal) and “pulls” (appeal) for young gang members (and prospective ones too) in America, it’s time to think about your own life and the various “pushes” and “pulls” affecting it.
In a 300-word journal response, address the different “pushes” and “pulls” in your life. What drives you intrinsically? What extrinsic forces drive and affect your decisions? What kind of indecision do you deal with when it comes to these “pushes” and “pulls?” What hurdles have you overcome with regard to your “pushes” and “pulls?”
* Some examples of pushes could be Marginalized, Neglected, Family members were involved in gangs or gang activity etc.
* Some examples of pulls could be Money, Power, Respect, Easy Life
There are no quotes required for this journal, but if you do quote any sources, both your in-text citations (quotes) and works cited must be in proper APA format.
