Part 1
The need for family caregivers will escalate dramatically in the coming years because of our aging population, increased longevity, and an overwhelmed formal health care system. These dedicated caregivers provide between 80% and 90% of the long-term care in the home. Present an overview of a scholarly article on the topic of family caregivers. The peer reviewed journal should be less than 5 years old. Visit the Alzheimer’s Association website at www.alz.org to incorporate signs of caregiver stress to the conversation.
Part 2
Palliative care, symptom management, supportive care, comfort care, end-of-life care, and hospice care are terms that are frequently used interchangeably. Define and compare/contrast these concepts. After reading your journal entry the reader should have a clear understanding of these concepts. Designate which specialized care you have participated in while attending Aultman College.
