Instructions: For the following goals, please first identify the A, B, C, and D. Then, explain and correct any errors; these could be adding in missing information, changing the wording to something more appropriate, or changing the goal to something more appropriate. Answers, or one version of them, will be available once the assignment closes.
Example:
LTG: To improve intelligibility, F will produce /p/, /d/, and /n/ in all word positions, with 85% accuracy.
STG1: In 6 weeks, F will produce /p/ in the word-initial position, when naming pictures or objects, with 85% accuracy.
STG2: In 12 weeks, F will produce /d/ and /n/ with prompts with 85% accuracy.
Response:
LTG:
-A: F
-B: will produce /p/, /d/, and /n/
-C: in all word positions
-D: with 85% accuracy
-Error: There are too may targets. F will likely work on one sound at a time, but the goal cannot be met until she masters all 3.
New goal: To improve intelligibility, F will produce /p/ in all word positions, with 85% accuracy.
STG1:
-A: F
-B: will produce /p/
-C: in the word-initial position, when naming pictures or objects
-D: with 85% accuracy
-Error: None
New goal: N/A
STG2:
-A: F
-B: will produce /d/ and /n/
-C: with prompts
-D: with 85% accuracy
-Error: There are too many targets in this goal. Though with prompts counts as a context, it does not give us enough information. Are we working at the word level? In what position? Does imitation work? (Also, these targets would not work with the new LTG I wrote. You would not need to include this in your list of errors, but you should rewrite the goal so that it works with the new LTG.)
New goal: F will produce /p/ in the word-final position, in imitation, with 85% accuracy.
Note: These are not the only types of errors you might find. Other examples, though not an exhaustive list, include an STG that is not a stepping stone to the LTG, goals too vague to understand, missing parts of the goal, etc.
Rubric:
For each item:
Properly identifying parts of goal .2 each
-Properly identifying error 1 each
-New Goal
Contains all parts .1 each
Address error .3
So, 2.5 per goal (LTG or STG), 7.5 per client (item 1 or 2), and 15 for the total assignment.
Assignment:
1. LTG: G will improve his fluency by using Easy Starts with 85% accuracy.
STG1: G will use Easy Starts, when reading sentences, in 8 out of 10 opportunities.
STG2: G will slow his speech rate during conversational speech 8 out of 10 times.
2. LTG: K will produce utterances with 3 or more words in 8 out of 10 opportunities.
STG1: To increase adjective use, K will describe objects/pictures with two adjectives in 8 out of 10 opportunities.
STG2: K will follow directions with 3 or more tasks with 80% accuracy.
