Cortney’s Case
Cortney is a 25-year-old woman who has recently lost her job due to a traumatic car accident and is seeking assistance caring for her three children ranging in age from 4-10. Cortney has received multiple medical bills that she is not able to pay. The doctors say she will not be able to work for at least a year since she had surgery on her back and neck. She is very tearful throughout the intake interview as shares that she does not have a good relationship with her family. While she does receive child support for the children and they are covered by Medicaid, their father does not see them regularly. She appears to have no support system. Cortney’s main concerns are losing the house she rents for $1200 a month, keeping utilities on, and feeding her family.
