have a 3 part/4 paragraph assignment covering Chapter 4 on Perception.

Starting on page 105, the book talks about the Perception Process. One of the four steps in this process is about Stereotyping. The recent events of our world is proof positive that stereotyping exist! To be a better communicator you have to be careful of your stereotyping tendencies! Not all cops are bad, not all African Americans males are a threat, not all White people are racist, not all tall people like basketball, not all people from Maryland like crabs and go-go music
..the list goes on and on! Each chapter and assignment is going to force you to disclose more about yourself which is what chapter 3 had mentioned. For this first TWO paragraphs I want you to disclose to us a time you were stereotyped AND I also want you to disclose a time you stereotyped someone else (or a group of people). WE ALL HAVE BEEN STEREOTYPED AND WE ALL HAVE STEREOTYPED SOMEONE ELSE (KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY) so saying you have never done it and its never been done to you is not acceptable or accurate. Again for most of you it was probably unintentional but you still stereotyped. After you reread the section on stereotyping it will be more clear! AGAIN IN THIS FIRST TWO PARAGRAPHS I WANT ONE TIME YOU WERE STEREOTYPED AND ONE TIME YOU STEREOTYPED!
Your third paragraph will be found starting on page 112. It lists SIX Physiological Influences on Perception. Which one of the SIX resonates with you the most and why? For me, Biological Cycles resonates the most because my wife and I have different cycles. She is a morning person and goes to bed really early. I do wake up early but I am more of a night person. This is important because I cant really discuss major issues with my wife late at night because she will not really comprehend what I am saying so it is indeed true that each of us perceives the world in a unique way because of physiological factors. Again which one of the SIX (Senses, Psychological Challenges, Age, Health & Fatigue, Hunger, Biological Cycles) resonates with you the most and WHY?
Your fourth paragraph will come from Common Tendencies in Perception starting on page 120. The book lists FIVE common tendencies, Which one can you relate to most and WHY?, For me it has to be We Judge Ourselves More Charitably Than We Judge Ourselves I will disclose to you that there have definitely been times that I see someone texting and driving and say that is so irresponsible but when I am doing it or using map quest on my phone to get directions its okay or its justified! This is definitely a self-serving bias that I am guilty of! Again which one of the FIVE tendencies listed from pages 120 to 123 stands out to you most and WHY?
Again a minimum FOUR in depth paragraphs in discussion board due by midnight on Friday 9/30! You can definitely have more that four paragraphs but four in depth is minimum!!!
