Section 1 of Project (Rhetorical Précis)
Complete a rhetorical précis of the scholarly article that provides a clear, concise, and logical summary of the scholarly article, includes the essential ideas only.
Introductory sentence(s): include the authors name, title of the article, publishing date, the authors thesis.
Argument sentence(s): Explain the authors essential argument and main points.
Purpose sentence(s): Explain the authors purpose for the argument.
Authors Conclusion sentence: Discuss the final conclusion of the author. Was the thesis proven or at the end of the article did the author change their mind?
Section 2 of Project (Statement of Agreement/Disagreement)
Statement of whether you agree or disagree with the authors argument and conclusion.
Specific example from the class readings to support your agreement or disagreement.
Section 3 of Project (Conclusion)
The conclusion will provide
Overall wrap up of the scholars and students point of view.
Description of why the reading is still relevant today.
No more than three to four sentences. Brief and clear.
Name of literary reading and author must be included within your writing at some point where it fits best.
MLA Formatting
Appropriate in-text citations throughout your writing.
Works Cited entries in MLA format at the end of the writing (include the article and the literary work).
