PROJECT
Among adult individuals (18-50 years old) suffering from depression, is a combination of Pharmacotherapy and Psychotherapy more effective for managing or reducing their depressive symptoms in six months to one year compared to Pharmacotherapy alone?
Dependent Variable: Depressive symptoms management or reduction
Independent Variable: Pharmacotherapy alone or a combination of Pharmacotherapy and Psychotherapy.
.
This study is noteworthy because it seeks to answer whether or not the addition of psychotherapy to pharmacotherapy improves the management or reduction of depressive symptoms. The quality of life for depressed people might be enhanced if combining these two therapies is more effective. Additionally, this study is important because it aims to answer the question of whether or not the integration of medication and psychotherapy is superior to either treatment alone in the management or reduction of depressive symptoms (Guidi & Fava, 2021, p.263). Effective therapy is crucial in minimizing the intensity of depressed symptoms, which may negatively influence a person’s quality of life, hence this is necessary. This study aims to add to the growing body of literature on depression treatment options, for which there is no widespread agreement. Most people with depression do not respond well to standard treatment. (Guidi & Fava, 2021, p.265). With the results of this study, researchers may be able to develop a more efficient therapy for treating depression.
P: Adult individuals (ages 18 to 50 years)
I: Combination of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy
C: Pharmacotherapy alone
O: Managing or reducing depressive symptoms
T: 6 months to 1 year
However, Quality of life and everyday functioning might be significantly affected by depressive symptoms. While pharmacotherapy is the gold standard for treating depression, it may not work for everyone and may result in noncompliance to treatment. (Bighelli et al., 2020, p.499). It has been suggested that psychotherapy, either on its own or in tandem with pharmacotherapy, may be more effective in the management of depressive symptoms and the improvement of quality of life than any of these approaches alone.
