The informal organization and accompanying culture have an effect on the successful management of any organization. As noted in the text, “employees use their own unwritten and informal rules, work procedures, behaviors, expectations, and communication networks to create their informal organization.” Managerial functions to be covered later in the semester such as managing change, problem solving and decision making, and leading are also influenced by the informal culture present.
Using an organization or previous which you have some familiarity (does not have to be in healthcare) discuss in 1-2 paragraphs various ways in which the informal organization can affect management activities. Please provide specific examples to support your analysis.
