To what extent do you think humans should be able to own celestial objects like stars or asteroids, or parts of the Moon and Mars? What kind of legislation do you think there should be around this ownership, if any?
After reading threeo or more articles, create an enumerated discussion post in which you respond to the all of the following questions. We suggest that you type your responses into a saved Word Document, and then copy and paste your response onto the Discussion Board (so that you don’t inadvertently lose your work). Use the rubric as a guideline for how your responses to this lab assignment will be graded.
1. In your own words, what does it mean to own something?
2. What differentiates material things that you (consider your current age and career-stage in life) can own versus things that you cannot?
3.Would you purchase a star for a friend or family member from a commercial organization? Why or why not?
4. Which articles did you read? (copy and paste the citations)
5. In your own words, describe three issues you learned about surrounding ownership of celestial objects from these articles
6. Describe one perspective discussed in the articles that suggests humans should own celestial object(s) (specify the object(s) you are describing). What was the rationale for ownership? To what extent do you agree/disagree with this perspective?
7. Describe one perspective discussed in the articles that suggests humans should not own celestial object(s) (specify the object(s) you are describing). What was the rationale for making celestial object(s) universally accessible? To what extent do you agree/disagree with this perspective?
