Yahoo is a privately owned company. Its owners are Apollo Global Management and Verizon Communications. The CEO of Yahoo is Jim Lanzone. So, the introduction you have provided appears to have some errors, as the company is privately owned and the latest information you provide is from 2017, five years ago. I believe it would be important to mention the company being privately owned. The information you provide end of the company strategy overview appears to be somewhat dated, as it is from 2011, 2014, and 2015. What were the company strategy be today, in 2022. You provide an interesting discussion concerning the company strategic intent, however most of the information you have provided this narrative as well as the paragraph concerning finances is from information from many years ago and is no longer pertinent nor relevant today. The information you provide in the first paragraph under the subheading swot analysis is quite interesting. I notice from a reference from 2020, how much of this is still relevant today? You mention three strengths under the swot analysis; large user base, global reach, and diversified business portfolio. I certainly agree with each of these, however do you have support for any the numbers you mention; i.e. 1 billion monthly users, an update from 2009 to indicate how many countries with operations? Remember your CEO client is interested in the most recent information. Under the weaknesses you indicate declining search market share from 2012 and 2016. How is a search market share today, 2022? Competition is usually not considered a weakness but is considered a threat. So, this should be listed as a threat. It appears the challenging advertising market also discussed under weakness would be from competition, which would definitely fall under threats, and external environmental factors. You indicate opportunities of growth in mobile, partnerships and acquisitions, and emerging markets. These are good. Under partnerships and acquisitions, you mention Tumblr, what year was this done? The information you provide concerning emerging markets appears to be used a reference from 16 years ago is this still relevant today? You mentioned three items under threats regulations economic conditions and competition. You provide a good general conclusion, however there is room for further development of other important topic areas. I notice on the references you do not provide any recent, 2021 or 2022, information pertaining to the company. Keep in mind your CEO client is interested in the most recent information. I understand not being able to get a form 10K from the SEC for something from the company’s latest annual report, since the company is now privately owned. I do not see where you have evaluated management’s role in the strategic planning process. This is something you can cover in the upcoming signature assignment. You have offered a swot analysis, however you need to work on a better understanding of the internal and external environmental factors. The internal environmental factors are composed of things which the company can and does control. For example, if a company does something very well, then it is a strength. If a company does something, but does not do it very well, it is a weakness. The external environmental factors are composed of things that are not under the control of the organization. These items are considered opportunities and threats. For each environmental factor identified there should be a corresponding plan, strategy, to help the company. For example for each strength identified there should be a plan to keep that specific strength. This plan is a strategy. This strategy is later reworded as a specific recommendation for your CEO client. If you have three strengths, then you should have three plans on how to keep those strengths identified as well as three recommendations for your CEO client. For each weakness identified there should be a corresponding plan to convert that specific weakness into a strength. So, if you have identified three weaknesses, then there should be three plans to convert those weak things the organization does into three strengths. This will later result in three specific recommendations on how to make those conversions, which you will provide your CEO client. Opportunities are things which are going on outside the organization, but the organization recognizes may have some benefit to them. So, for each opportunity identified there should be a corresponding plan to convert that specific opportunity into a strength. So, if you have three opportunities identified, then there should be three strategies and also three recommendations from the strategies. For each threat identified there should be a corresponding plan to protect the organization from that threat. The last thing one would want would be something the impact the organization adversely, to which they could have made plans. So, for each threat identified there should be a corresponding plan to protect the organization from that specific threat. The strategy is later reworded as a recommendation telling the CEO client what to do. One of the most important things your CEO client will look for is probably a 2 x 2 swot matrix. This is something which was pointed out in discussion post an email for everyone to provide as part of this narrative, your first report to your CEO client. The reason why this is interesting and important, it provides a visual relationship of the internal and external environmental factors with one another. This corresponds directly with what has been identified as discussed within the narrative. One of the major things to keep in mind is your CEO client is ready for information from you concerning what is going on today, not what is going on or has gone on several years before. The purpose behind your report is to provide a fresh narrative and take on things which are going on today which can provide a different direction for the company
