This assignment will require you to conduct a complete a content analysis of social media posts. Follow the following steps and submit the final products as 1 document.
Part 1: Identify 1 hashtag that may be related to your project topic (ex. for the topic Alcohol, the hashtag #thirstythursday may be used). Select 3 social media sites or apps to search. Search each site or app for the hashtag, and record or save the first 10 posts that appear in each search result. You will now have a database of 30 social media posts (3 social media apps X 1 hashtags X 10 posts per search = 30 posts overall).
Part 2: Develop a code structure. Identify the 3 to 5 themes that appear most often in the posts, provide a definition for each theme, and provide 1 or 2 examples of each theme. Then, code each post based on your code structure. Within the same document, submit your code structure and a table describing the percent of posts that contain each theme.
Please note that you do not need to use specialize software to complete this assignment. Taking notes, creating the code structure, and creating the table describing how often each theme occurs can be completed using Microsoft Word, Excel or similar programs.
