PLEASE NOTE: You are NOT writing a story as you did in your first WR. You are creating images that represent the brain regions, are placing these images around a path, then are describing yourself walking that path.
This Written Response is a fascinating one to do but will take some time and thought.
You will want to watch the video in our Module that explains how to build a memory palace.
The detailed instructions for this Written Response are in the uploaded file, which is labeled Cognition, Method of Loci, Written Response.
The main brain areas with their associated main functions that are to be covered are in the uploaded document titled Cognition, Main Brain Functions. There are 22 of them.
They are in BOLD.
PLEASE NOTE: I have had students not complete this WR correctly. Please read the instructions carefully (i.e., Step 1, Step 2
)
We are again using brain areas for this WR because it is essential for those studying psychology to know the brain basics. After all, as the saying goes, Everything psychological is also biological. Of course, which came first
the chicken or the egg? ?
For this WR, you create an image that helps you remember the name and main function of each brain area. You then place these images on the route that you have created. You describe walking this route and seeing these images.
You will have two parts for this WR.
The first part will be your list. Below is a partial student sample.
The second part will be your description of you walking through your Memory Palace. Below is the partial student sample that corresponds with the above list.
Please note: You are writing for the innocent reader for our courses Written Response Assignments. As such, you want to write enough detail so that your innocent reader can learn the information that you are writing about. You might want to ask yourself If I had a friend read this, would they be able to learn from it?
You can expect that to complete a quality Written Response you will need to write a minimum of two full pages (1/2-inch to 1-inch margins, no headings/footers, no extra spaces/lines, 11- point Calibri or 12- point Times New Roman font, etc.).
Please do not include my instructions in your document.
