Wage determination is a critical topic of study. Much disagreement, mainly along the political lines, suggests a patriarchy in the US is maintaining a wage gap between men and women. As we discussed last week, in the US wages and labor markets are determined by free market forces and by choices of laborers.
Your assignment is to write:
1) a one page paper,
2) single spaced,
3) New Times Roman 12 font,
4) with good grammar and all quotes footnoted/endnoted/cited
5) your goal of this paper is to speak to the possible pay gap, articulating if it exists, and how it affects the US labor market or you.
Below is a place to start. You are not required to agree with the videos, but you must back up what you assert with clear, concise, and undisputed data. Do not just say we live in a patriarchal society. Articulate what creates wage determination and the result of labor market activity. (hint: if women were cheaper labor and labor is the most expensive input cost in most businesses, then hiring only women is the natural result of businesses to save money).
