For this essay, you will choose one black woman artist (performer, singer, poet, novelist) that we have not discussed in class and demonstrate how their specific artistry contributes to theories of black womens expressive practice vis-à-vis the blues and/or black feminism. Each paper will be graded according to a rubric that will be distributed at the beginning of the semester. You are strongly encouraged to schedule a meeting to discuss your theoretical essays subjects.
