This is your first time leading a global project of this scope with a virtual team. There are whispers that you should relinquish some of the overt leadership and allow self-government with the virtual teams. While self-managing teams are not a new concept in the virtual team and project management space, the issue is how it would impact the system and process that was established and what would this say about your leadership, if anything? Map out a reason to allow self-government (self-managing teams) and make the case for why this is not the time to go this route.
