For this assignment, you will be writing a summary of a peer-reviewed research article
that pertains to the topic you have chosen for your final paper.
THE TOPIC: MARRIAGE GENDER ROLES BACK IN THE 1900S TO NOW.
1. First find a peer-reviewed research article related to your topic.
2. Read the article once by scanning through it to get an overall idea of what the article
is about.
3. Try to put in your own words what the author(s) are describing. Some questions that
help are:
1. What was the research question and the reason for the study?
2. Was a hypothesis tested? (perhaps there are more than one). This may or may
not be relevant to your article.
3. What methods were used to conduct the research? Surveys, interviews,
experiments?
4. What were the findings and how were they interpreted?
5. Critique some: Were the results surprising to you? Can you relate any of the
results to class/course material? Were you convinced by the results?
4. Finally, write how this article will be relevant to your final paper for this class.
5. Paper should be double spaced, 12 size font, Times New Roman
6. Length? 2 pages which is 500 words
