Why does Descartes maintain that this proposition I am, I exist, is necessarily true whenever it is put forward by me or conceived in my mind despite having gone through the hyperbolic doubts of the First Meditation? Does his account of what I am have the same sort of certainty and immunity to hyperbolic doubt as this first argument?
