Part of your grades is a project is about Global Health Learning,Global health is an area for study, research, and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. I will assign different topics (diseases) in class that are considered a global health issues. This will help students learning about global health issues and being able to research and write a paper about it. Some disease processes are more involved than others; therefore, I am not going to specify a set minimum number of words or pages. However, you should be as complete as possible being sure to cover your topic. I can tell you that if you are only submitting a couple of pages, you havent done your job. You have plenty of time to do this. Part of your grade will be based on the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide. At the end of the paper you should include your references. DO NOT use only internet searches. Please do not wait till last minute to hand your project, you can either upload it on canvas or hand it to me in class. Your paper should include but not be limited to the following points as they relate to your topic: 1. Define the disease and the etiologic agent(s) responsible (if any) 2. Method of transmission 3. Clinical signs/symptoms 4. Diagnostic methods (testing) and what you can expect to find on the results 5. If its communicable or not, epidemic or pandemic. 6. How it affects organ systems. 7. Treatment methods: include names of drugs and their mechanisms of actions, surgeries, radiation, laser, etc. At the end of the paper you should include your references. Try to use books, medical journals not only use internet searches.
