Choose one book of your choice (see the example listed under required books), and read, and write this book report (this is NOT a book review).
Make sure you select a book related to international health care or caring for individuals from other cultures.
Recommendation: Select a book that is not too long and, certainly, not too short.
When completing this assignment, you must provide references, from peer-reviewed articles from Killam Library databases to discuss interventions and action in global health development, in the current APA format.
Criteria:
Using the following format write a report on this book:
Title Page: according to APA formatting, pages should be numbered. Use the title of the book in italics with the author of the book, then put YOUR NAME as the author and then the University name.
Book specifics: What is the copyright date of the book, publisher, number of pages, and number of printings if known (you could also state which printing of the book you are reading).
Include this information on the bottom left-hand side of the title page.
Instead of an abstract, write a brief synopsis of the book (after you write the paper, of course!). It should include a brief summary of the book and what you learned about international health care or caring for individuals from other cultures.
Information about the book: Without retelling the entire book, provide the following information about the book:
Short summary
Describe where the book takes place, geographically and temporally.
What was the author’s main purpose in writing this book, did he/she have a particular point of view?
Did the author persuade you of their point of view? Why or why not?
What did you learn from reading this book in terms of culture, politics/environment, education, and their impact on health among people who are not from Middle-Class US background?
Why should a student in a Global Health course read this book?
What did you learn from reading this book that will inform your practice?
How will what you learned in this book be incorporated into your future practice?
