This is a health promotion & health maintenance, and social determinants of health
class activity. Health promotion empowers the patient or parents to be more likely
engaged in positive health care behaviors; nurses help to improve and maintain the
health of individuals and communities in which they live. Nurses are required to be
educators who teach patients about health promotion, preventing undesirable changes
and managing their medical conditions. By educating patients, nurses help patients take
control of their health care needs by building their knowledge and understanding of
self-management of their medical condition. The patient/parents presentation/teaching
level should be a grade 6. Be creative about your work with visual aids to catch the
patients/parents attention: examples power points, short videos, and time for
question & answers.
2. All group members are required to actively participate. Choose a presenter to be the
educator, other group members will answer questions.
3. Canvas shells will be created for the groups to submit their work.
