Please answer both of the following questions. Each answer should be at least 150 words long. Don’t forget to include at least one outside source in your post and cite it using MLA format–there are many ways to include an outside source, for example, embed an image, gif, or visual into your post, link us to an article or resource that you used to research an idea, or share an example of a text that you think reflects the rhetorical skills we’re studying. Be creative! Keep the conversation interesting!
1. “Choose one item from the following list that you understand well enough to evaluate (or choose a category of your own). Develop several criteria of evaluation that you would defend to distinguish excellence from mediocrity in the area. Then choose an item that you don’t know much about and explain the research you might use to discover reasonable criteria or evaluation for it:
smartwatches
NFL quarterbacks
social media sites
TV journalists
video games
virtual reality products
Navajo rugs
U.S. vice presidents
organic vegetables
electric cars
spoken word poetry
specialty coffee
country music bands
superhero/horror/foreign films
podcasts” (Lunsford et al. 229)
2. Consider the “Breakfast Series” of Everything’s An Argument to answer this question: “Parody involves imitation with humorous exaggeration, often as a form of critique, a kind of evaluative argument. (See Chapter on evaluative arguments). In what ways does each of these cereal boxes represent a parody of an actual breakfast cereal box? Why are breakfast cereal boxes an especially interesting resource to employ in critiquing the majority culture’s perspectives of indigenous Americans?” (Lunsford et al. 579)
The picture attached is the article to respond for question number two!
