We are near the middle of the semester. Now is a suitable time to reflect on your learning from this semester. The following are the course learning outcomes. I’d like you to give some time for some serious reflection on each of the five learning outcomes (keep reading below).
SLSS 3200 Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate effective leadership and mentoring skills
2. Apply heightened levels of self-awareness
3. Model effective learning skills and strategies
4. Employ skills that facilitate learning (e.g. self-awareness, the acquisition of learning skills and strategies, etc.) in others
5. Demonstrate increased ability to utilize and connect other students to university and other resources and opportunities
In a typed document, please go through and provide some reflective connections and examples of how you’ve grown and expanded in your own learning in relation to EACH of the above outcomes. Provide specific examples with principles we have discussed from our class that you’ve seen and experienced. Talk about what this learning has meant to you and even to others.
(It might be a good idea to think about this first and even brainstorm examples for each of the 5 learning outcomes.)
After that, I’d be interested in having you provide some feedback on what you think we should cover during the rest of the semester. I have a plan, of course, but I’m always interested in hearing if there are other things you would like to learn about at this point. If it is possible, I’ll try to weave some of your ideas into the remaining weeks of the semester.
This midterm reflection should be very substantive (you’re going to have at least five fairly substantive – not just 2-4 sentence paragraphs with personal examples, etc., since there are at least 5 learning outcomes you should be talking about). It will be clear to me if you choose not to take the time to respond thoroughly with examples and personal application.
Recommendation:
Copy and paste the 5 learning outcomes above into a document and then speak to them, as outlined above.
You can complete this as early as you’d like, submitting it no later than the due date.
