Schizophrenia can be conceptualized as a cognitive disorder. Recent work has focused on both neurocognitive and social cognitive domains. The assigned article goes beyond the material in the textbook, and summarizes recent work in the social cognitive domain. It is quite helpful in understanding the nature of schizophrenic symptoms and new treatment approaches.
Compare and contrast the material in the article with that in the textbook.
Discuss the cognitive distortions that occurs in schizophrenia; and how cognitive restructuring and socials skills can be helpful.
