Part 1:
Write at least 1 sentence (in any direction desired- read below on text direction) in Middle Egyptian (one of the stages of Ancient Egyptians languages) using the different resources available here. Typically, a sheet of Egyptian papyrus with an average thickness of 0.50 0.75 mm was provided in class for this assignment. Instead, you may use any thick art paper available, preferably thicker than the average paper which is 0.1 mm thick).
Part 2:
Write one full typed page (in English) on your experience and the likely challenges that Egyptian scribes faced in their everyday practice. You are encouraged to draw from your personal experience of writing hieroglyphics to highlight the impact the different material and script can have on scribal practices. Your text must be accompanied by a transcription of your Middle Egyptian sentence and its translation (see below for example).
