In the first chapter of The American Political Tradition author Richard Hofstadter examines the political views of the Founding Fathers. Based on that chapter, our work in class and the other assigned readings (including the Constitution itself), answer the following:
a) How did the Founders view liberty, democracy, and property, concepts considered by most Americans to be at the heart of our system; and
b) Using at least three specific examples from the original Constitution (not the amendments), show how their philosophy related to those terms is reflected in the Constitution of the United States.
