Students will respond to a set of questions regarding their current cultural competency skill sets, identifying strengths and areas for growth. The student will prepare an action plan to address their skill set needs.
(1) Complete the Self-assessment.

Note that the tool is divided into three sections: awareness, knowledge, and skills. Complete all sections. Be sure to save your results. (NOTE: checklist was created in Canada. So substitute USA when it says “Canada” or “Canadian”.)
(2) Write a formal paper which addresses the following:
Briefly summarize your results of the Self-Assessment.
Identify which 2-3 cultural competency skills are strengths for you and support your choices with at least 1 example for each strength. Discuss which awareness and knowledge points correspond to those skills.
Identify 1-2 areas where you need to improve your skill(s) and provide an example (for each) to illustrate your choice(s). Discuss which awareness and knowledge points correspond to those skills.
Create an action plan for improving and strengthening the weakness(es)
(3) Research your topics using at least 2 evidence-based resources in addition to the use of the course textbook.
(4) Use proper composition (ex: introduction, body, conclusion, proper paragraphing, etc.) as well as correct grammar, spelling, etc.
(5) Format following APA requirements. Be sure to include n-text citations for all resources and a complete reference list.
(6) Length of the paper should be 900-1,200 words (excluding title page, reference page, any appendices, etc.)
(7) Submit to Blackboard as usual.
