Qualitative Research Article Search/Critique – Worth 30 points
Purpose: The student will learn how to search relevant databases in finding scholarly research
related to qualitative studies.
Assignment Details: Find an example of a primary source nursing related scholarly article that
uses qualitative research. The topic may vary as long as it is directly related to nursing.
1. Describe which databases were used (EBSCO, CINAHL, etc), as well as search
criteria that you utilized to find the article. How many articles did it yield? Indicate
how you narrowed your search.
2. Identify participants – how many and where the research took place.
3. Describe the main portions of the article including main sections of the article.
4. Summarize the article and describe how the author presents the information.
5. Indicate your appraisal of the article. In your eyes, does the article provide sound
evidence?
6. Reference the article (APA).
7. Submit your 2-3 page response (APA format) by the due date. Please include title
and reference page.
