Project Proposal
Successful projects require detailed planning. This planning ensures the budget, training,
and plan of action is efficiently run. Our team will implement the demolition and removal of an
existing garage. This project proposal will propose the replacement of Gil and Joni’s existing
free standing garage with a larger structure that would include a small “in-law” apartment. Gil
and Joni will be able to better care for Gilda, Joni’s mother, while enabling her to maintain the
dignity of independent living.
Product Scope
This improved garage and a small apartment will add an estimated $170,000 to the value
of the property. Our team will propose a scope statement that will include a Plumber, Electrician,
General Laborer, and a Contractor who can prepare the site and lay the foundation. Heating and
Air Conditioning must be sufficient to deal with New England’s climate. We will also have to
add inspections, and furnishings. The total project costs must not exceed $165,000. If the budget
allows for laundry, we will also add that into the new garage. Time from breaking ground to
occupancy will not exceed 90 days. The structure must also be energy efficient. This will include
a galley kitchen with a built-in microwave, two burner stove, small convection oven, and a small
fridge.
Need or Opportunity
The home owners have decided to accept a new family member into their home, therefore
they need their free-standing garage to be renovated. The garage renovation will expand the
building infrastructure and include an apartment size living quarters with all the common
amenities. The renovation of the garage is to accommodate Joni’s elderly mother Gilda, which
3
will provide her independent living. The renovation will enable Gilda to be close to family in
case of emergencies and allows Gilda the opportunity of independence. The new garage and
studio apartment has added a substantial increase in the property value, and increase of
$170.000.
Principle Project Stakeholders
The project stakeholders are Gil and Joni. The garage with an apartment will be a gigantic
asset for the family. Gilda can finally enjoy being around her family more. Building the garage
and an apartment will also be a significant improvement on the value of the property.
The Next Steps
The limitation development is an effective technique in calculating the accomplishment of
the project. Gil will be managing all parts of the renovation because this is a huge investment for
them. The three-month time include any interruptions because of the weather or material
problems. Gil and Joni must confirm they have chosen the appropriate team for the project.
Conclusion
The garage project for Gil and Joni will give the extra storage space, controlled workshop
area, safety from any severe weather and an increased value on the house. This project has noted
the stakeholders being Gil and Joni. Another stakeholder would be the financial institute that
finances the project. The garage timeline is noted for a completion in three months with a budget
estimated at $165,000. The Statement of Work (SOW) gives the detailed work requirements for
the project. This project proposal paper has given the necessary information to plan the building
of the garage and a small living area.
