Write a 2,000-2,500 word paper that
presents your dissertation plan. Include the following: Introduction: Provide
an engaging short introduction that describes the purpose for your proposed
research project or application project. Topic Justification (Define Need or
Value): Describe the need for the proposed research project or application
project based on needs identified in empirical articles or scholarly resources
relevant to this emphasis area. The topic should focus on innovative
communications and learning solutions using emerging technologies which are
also based on theories of psychology from this emphasis program. Problem
Statement: Develop a problem statement that clearly defines the problem that
will be addressed by the proposed research project or application project,
based on analyzing the scholarly literature providing the background that has led
to this problem. Theoretical Foundation: Provide at least two theories or
models, including one from learning or cognition, which will provide the
foundation for designing your proposed technology-enabled Learning or
Communication Solution for your research project or application project. These
theories and models can also be used to help develop the research questions for
the research project or the objectives for the application project. Research
Questions or Application Objectives: Provide at least two research questions to
be answered by the research project or application objectives to be addressed
by the application project using the theories or models from the theoretical
foundation to develop them. Assessment of Alternative Emerging Technologies: Assess
two alternative emerging technologies to be used as the basis for your learning
and communication solution using the current empirical literature on these
technologies as well as theories of psychology in the areas of cognition and
learning. Describe how and why the recommended emerging technology is the best
option to design the solution. Design of the Learning or Communication
Solution: Design the learning or communication solution using an emerging
technology to be the basis for your research project or application project
using one of the two following approaches:
• Research Project Design: Provide a design
for a learning or communication solution which uses an emerging technology as
well as a design approach supported by at least one empirical article. Provide
both a narrative description and visual design. Then identify the research
methodology and design you will use for your dissertation (Note: Doctoral
dissertations in this emphasis area might use an experimental design to
evaluate the effectiveness of a learning or communication solution designed
using gaming, virtual reality, or social networking as well as theories of
learning and cognition. Or they might explore the cognitive development based
on a technology-enabled solution. For example there have been correlation
studies to assess if and to what degree the time spent gaming improves
creativity as measured on psychological tests. Or they might explore the
relative effectiveness of two or more technology-enabled learning and
communication solutions from a learning and/or cognitive development
perspective. ) Measurement of the Success of the Project Plan: Identify the
major steps to implement your research project or application project. Describe
how you can apply at least two theories or models of psychology from this
program emphasis area to enable the success of this plan including one from
either learning or cognition. Describe at least two measures of success for the
Project Plan.
