Your essay should have 5 paragraphs: an introduction (with a thesis statement), three body
paragraphs, and a conclusion
Your thesis statement should have a topic the process that vou will be explaining+ the 3 main
stages of that process (you will break down these stages in the body paragraphs. For example:
Making a delicious chocolate cake from scratch is easy after shopping for ingredients, preparing
the kitchen, and following the recipe.
Your thesis statement should be the last sentence of your introductory paragraph.
Your three body paragraphs should break down the three major steps of your process and
explain the smaller details about each stage or the process
For example: Thesis Making a delicious chocolate cake from scratch is easy after
shopping for ingredients, preparing the kitchen, and following the recipe.
Body Paragraph 1: This paragraph all of the steps involved with shopping for ingredients
to make a chocolate cake.
Body Paragraph 2: This paragraph will discuss all of the steps involved with preparing
the kitchen to bake a chocolate cake.
Body Paragraph 3: This paragraph will discuss all of the steps involved with following the
recipe for a chocolate cake.
Each body paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that reiterates the thesis. For example:
The first step is making a delicious chocolate cake from scratch is shopping for the ingredients.
Each body paragraph should contain at least 5 transition words. (i.e. Next, also, at the same
time)
The introduction should give background information on your topic and tell readers about any
prior materials that they must have.
The conclusion should restate the thesis and provide final thoughts.
The introduction and conclusion paragraphs should have 4-5 sentences each.
EACH body paragraph should have 10 sentences
No use of contractions throughout the entire essav
