write each paragraph answering the questions
paragraph 1 1. In Query XIV of Jeffersons Notes on Virginia (181), he puts forward as self-evident the racist assumption that blacks are less attractive than whites. As proof of that assumption, Jefferson makes an analogy between the supposed sexual preferences of apes (or Oran-utans as Jefferson refers to them) and the supposed sexual preferences of black men. What is that analogy and how does it work to prove that whites are more attractive than blacks?
paragraph 2. In evaluating the capacity of black people, at one point in Notes on Virginia Jefferson considers the example of Phillis Wheatley as a poet (at the top of page 183). How does he view Wheatley, and how does her example affect his view of blacks in general?
paragraph 3- On the top of page 186 of the hand out, Jefferson takes note of a historical difference between Roman slavery and North American slavery. What is that difference and how does it affect his opinion on whether or not American slaves could ever be emancipated?
