Write a narrative essay in which you tell a story about facing a challenge and overcoming that challenge through perseverance and self-reliance
Your story can be real or imagined. But it must be grounded in reality, so no fantasy, sci-fi, horror, etc. And please do not plagiarize the plot of a movie, a television show, a graphic novel, etc. Be original.
Your story must be written from a first-person point of view (e.g., I, my, me, mine).
You can use dialogue when appropriate, as long as the dialogue arcs (e.g., positive to negative, negative to positive). Do not, however, write the entire essay using dialogue.
Introductory Paragraph: Write a four- to six-sentence paragraph in which you provide exposition (who, where, when, what) and an inciting incident (i.e., an event or conversation that introduces a problem).
Body Paragraph A: Write six- to eight-sentence paragraph that arcs from negative to positive. The suggested structure is two negative sentences, two neutral sentences, two positive sentences. You can write more sentences but not fewer.
Body Paragraph B: Write six- to eight-sentence paragraph that arcs from positive to negative. The suggested structure is two positive sentences, two neutral sentences, two negative sentences. You can write more sentences but not fewer.
Concluding Paragraph: Write a six- to eight-sentence paragraph that arcs from negative to positive. This paragraph should also reveal to the reader what you learned about self-reliance (and yourself) as you overcame challenges and resolved (or tried to resolve) the conflict
