Use the attached template to fill in all the information.
Worksheet to complete after Chapter 1 is covered:
Setting your Goals –
complete Sheet 2 (suggested websites are optional reference for you to use).
Worksheet to complete after Chapter 2 is covered:
Creating a personal balance sheet and a personal cash flow statement –
complete Sheet 6 AND Sheet 7.
The template file contains all the worksheets you need. To move from one worksheet to another, click on the relevant tabs near the bottom of the opened file. Fill out all relevant fields in the balance sheet or cash flow statement.
Before you start the balance sheet, I suggest that you make a list of what you own, and what you owe. Before you start the cash flow statement, you should select a month in the past, and track all your earnings and spending for the month.
Can I use another person’s data instead of my own to complete the worksheets?
It is most beneficial if you complete the financial goals for yourself. This will give you a good start in your financial planning. As for the balance sheet and cash flow statement, you have the option to use your own data or someone else. If you are still a dependent in your household and have limited financial transactions, or you don’t feel comfortable completing the worksheets with your own data, you may complete the balance sheet and cash flow statement worksheets using financial data from someone you know. Describe the person by providing the person’s age, marital status, and number of dependents (no need to provide the name).
You may also use the financial data provided in the text: pages 123 the “Continuing Case” on Jamie Lee Jackson can be used for the balance sheet and cash flow statement. Make sure you insert a note to let me know if you are using the financial data from the textbook.
