This short paper assignment will give you the opportunity to explore/research an author, theory, or topic that youd like to know more about.
Choose ONE chapter/article from the list below. These are readings that we did not discuss in class. Using the article/chapter of your choosing, compose a 2-page (double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins) explanation and analysis of the authors argument.
In your paper, I would like you to answer the following three questions in essay form:
1. What is he/she arguing?/ What is the author trying to convince the reader of?
2 How exactly does he/she make their case for this claim?/ What evidence and reasoning do they employ?
3. How would you situate his/her argument within the history of Ethics that weve encountered in this class? In other words, how does it relate to (compare/contrast with) other approaches to Ethics weve considered?
These will be graded on the basis of careful explanation of the authors ideas, citation of the source (page #s) each time you refer to it, use of clear expression and organization, and thoughtful engagement with the authors ideas.
