This paper should focus on a news article from the current semester that deals with an international economic issue or conflict somewhere in the world. Again select a news article from NYT, Washington Post, CNN or Fox. The topic of the article must involve an international dimension (i.e., an international cause and/or effect) and it must be economic in nature rather than military or purely diplomatic. (In other words, if you write about the current economic conflict between
China and the US, please find an article focused on the international dimensions rather than one only focused on the domestic consequences to American farmers.) In writing this paper, you need to (1) identify who the actors are that are involved in the conflict; (2) describe the nature of their interaction; (3) discuss the interests of the parties; and (4) explain why the author of the news article believes the conflict occurred (in other words, what the author sees as the main factor(s), situation(s), or decision(s) that led to the conflict). If an institution was involved in the conflict, please discuss its role as well.
