The project: You will teach one another a lesson on early mass media in the history of mass communication.
Your task: Perform outside research beyond the content of this course to learn more about one of the topics below. You must provide a list of all of the sources you relied on in researching your midterm project, in a works cited page. Please avoid Wikipedia and other encyclopedias. You should rely on at least four (4) outside sources of information. You may reference the course material as well, but only in addition to the four outside sources you cite. Your goal is to teach your classmates about the topic of your choice. Though its important to provide specific historical details on your topic, what matters most is being able to communicate why your topic is significant in the history of mass communication. As detailed below, you have several topics to choose from and a few different options in the presentation of your lesson.

-The life, work, and advocacy of Ida B. Wells
-The muckraking of Ida Tarbell
-The growing popularity of newspaper comic strips during the late 19th and early 20th centuries
-The rise of special-interest magazines during the late 19th and early 20th centuries
