the data analytics software we use is JMP, from SAS. it is a lot more user-friendly than SAS. you can download the s/w and install via instructions under software download. go to jmp.com for training videos. JMP is Excel based, and the cases have all the data files in them.
The key is for each of us to be exposed to these data visualization, data analysis, and predictive analytic tools.
In this course the cases will use JMP for data visualization, multivariate analysis, predictive analytics, etc.
This is what you are responsible for when turning in the assignments. I like you to be exposed to some commercial data analytics software and approaches. Data analysis is about extracting and exploring data so as to gain more understanding about the problem under investigation. There is no one way to do that. The pdf file describes the authors approach, which is a good one.
Usually the logical next step is to report that to management and they can, or they will assign to you again, figure out how to improve if they choose to.
For turning in assignments, you are to go through the analyses, create the graphs/tables etc in JMP and save them, capture your analyses/thought process with a Word doc, then turn in both by uploading them. The Word doc is kind of like a written description of your steps and your findings. The doc does not need to be polished and official. The JMP file should have all your graphs/tables. I am interested in making sure you demo to me your understanding of the analysis process.
