Step 1: Read the discussion questions below. Choose 2 of the 3 to respond to and post each answer separately in its own thread. You must use an APA formatted citation for at least one of your two posts. You can use the textbook as your source. How this will look: You will be typing at least 6-8 sentences in response to two discussion board questions by using 1) information from the book 2) your own experience (personal or observations of others).Your initial posts should be at least 1/2 page in length (minimum 6 sentences per question). These initial responses should be written in complete sentences, well organized, grammatically correct and free of spelling errors. You must use an APA formatted citation for at least one of your two posts. Using the above criteria, answer the following questions for Lesson 4 (choose 2 of the 3 ONLY)–REMEMBER post your answers in two separates posts:
1. Watch this videoclip of a parent-child disagreement. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFYsJYPye94 )
Analyze what is happening and the child’s goal of misbehavior. What could be the root of this boy’s acting out? What strategy from Chapter 4 would you recommend to this parent to respond more appropriately to have a better outcome?
2.Make up a scenario of a parent who wants their school-aged child to do something. Using the technique of Four Pluses and a Wish, how might that parent request their child’s assistance or cooperation?
3. Discuss in your groups if a NATURAL or a LOGICAL consequence would be best for each of these situations or if both are good options. Suggest a consequence you might give the child in each scenario and a possible desirable outcome. What did your parents do in situations like these? Did it teach and inspire you or not? 1. A child who keeps forgetting to turn in homework at school. 2. A child who doesn’t lock up her bike. 3. A child who keeps stealing money from another family member.
