Research Topic: Does exposure to adverse childhood experiences (i.e., trauma) impact juvenile offending?
Literature reviews are a critical part of the research proposal. In the literature review, the researcher outlines past findings and builds up the rationale for why this study should be conducted. Successful literature reviews require authors to read past and current research articles in their topic of interest. Literature review charts can assist researchers in organizing their reading.
For the literature review chart, each student must identify, review, and take notes using a literature review chart (provided on Canvas) on five (5) peer-reviewed research articles. Peer-reviewed means that the article reviewed is a research article found using the USF library resources. In other words, there should be no blogs, websites, or news articles in your literature review chart.
Each student should use the literature review chart template to take notes on the key features of each peer reviewed article.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Review Maxfield & Babbie Chapter 1 p. 14-25 on starting research.
Review your selected research question.
Create a folder on your computer to save research articles.
Use the library resources (Refer back to Module 3) to find 5 peer-reviewed journal articles that address your topic area and research question.
Save these articles to a new research folder.
I recommend saving articles using this format:
Author last name_year of pub_short title.
EXAMPLE: Holt & Liggett_2020_sextortion offenders
EXAMPLE 2: OMalley et al_2020_incel subculture
