Instructions: Take a look at graduate programs in Political Science at universities outside of Connecticut and do the following: Identify political scientists who work in each of the subfields of political science listed in your Roskin course text and course notes for Week 1 that we discussed in class (eight fields, in total including political methodology). You should name only one faculty member per subfield, per university. So, for example, if you name a scholar for subfield A in university X, the next scholar in subfield B should be identified in university Y, and so forth. Also, list one published work (peer reviewed journal article or book) authored by each of the scholars you identify. Usually, you can find this information on their CV or other information on their department website. Sometimes, if you email professors and express interest in their work, they will actually reply right back; especially if they are political scientists. (One published peer-reviewed work/book or article per author/subfield). After you have addressed the above: Next, in two paragraphs, do the following: What does the information on the scholars and departments you identify tell you about the discipline of Political Science? Select a graduate program in Political Science that you would like to attend in order to obtain a graduate degree (MA, Ph.D. etc.) in Political Science and defend your choice. For example, why is this particular graduate program at the University you select your choice for graduate school, and not the others? Use your imagination for this portion if you don’t have any immediate plans for graduate school. Note the following as you write your answers: 1. Your work should not be more than 3 pages long, including any references*** 2. You cannot use universities within Connecticut 3. The departments from which you select Political Science professors should actually have graduate programs in Political Science (MA, MSc, or Ph.D., etc.) 4. You cannot use two professors who work in the same Political Science department at the same university. 5. Do not hesitate to ask for additional clarifications. 6. Use the American Political Science Association style format or the author-date format of the Chicago Manual of Style to reference your work. The style format can be accessed through the website of the American Political Science Association. Follow the link and scroll down to find it: http://www.apsanet.org/PUBLICATIONS/Journals , or simply Google “APSA style guide.” Find the Author-date format of the Chicago Manual of Style here: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-2.html
