Please choose one of the assigned primary source readings on E-learning write a 1-1.5
page (12-point font, double-spaced, between 300 and 500 words) response to it that
addresses the following questions:
1. What was the purpose of the author (the original, primary source author, like
Hammurabi or “the unknown author of the Epic of Gilgamesh” ) in preparing this
document?
2. What is the author’s argument? What are they trying to do? Who is their intended
audience?
3. What are the author’s values and assumptions about his society, and how do those
differ from your values and assumptions (about, for instance, slavery, or justice,
or good jobs)?
4. What are the biases of this author? How reliable and accurate do they seem? How
valuable is this source for understanding world history, and why?
