Go to the Library Webpage and scroll down and find ‘Research Databases’ and then navigate to J (or click here) (Links to an external site.) and then find JSTOR – click on that link and it will take you to the JSTOR database via SLCC (you might have to log on if you are off campus).
Enter your search terms, like “Ancient Roman frescoes” or “Etruscan cista” or whatever you would like to learn more about (regarding ancient Roman or Etruscan art)
Narrow your search on the left side to ‘Architecture & Architectural History’ and ‘Art & Art History’
Select an article that you would like to read
Finally, write a summary of the article you have selected. Your summary should be single-spaced, and at least one full page, but no more than two. Include the full reference for the article, and then summarize the author’s arguments in your own words (no quotations, unless you are using short phrases six quoted words or less). Even though this is a summary, it should be treated like an essay: make sure to include an introduction to your summary and a conclusion (the conclusion should include a scholarly critique—was the article well argued? Informative? A stretch?)
