Find a song that illustrates one or more aspects of
the relationship theories discussed in class and/or in
your text. These theories include Adult Attachment,
Social Exchange and Equity. Your song does not
have to include all elements of the theory, but must
illustrate at least one. For credit, you must turn in a
brief paper (3 4 typed, double spaced pages with
12 point font) with each of the following:
Introduce your topic discussing how media
(songs) reflects preconceptions about romantic
relationships. (5 points).
The full song lyrics (lyrics do not count toward
the page limitation). Include the name of the
singer/band. You may copy and paste lyrics at
the end of your paper in an appendix. Make sure
to cite (see below) the author of the lyrics and
place the lyrics in quotation marks (5 points)

Define the theory you believe is illustrated by
the song. Explain all aspects of this theory fully
and be sure to cite the text regarding the
originators of the theory. (15 points).
Explain how your song illustrates this theory.
Provide specific examples of lyrics that
correspond to the theory. You will not receive
full credit for simply stating that the song in
general is illustrative of your theory you must
show exactly which lyrics illustrate particular
aspects of the theory. (15 points). What are your feelings regarding both the song
you chose and the theory it reflects (5 points).
Grammar, APA style, and spelling (5 points).
You will only receive full credit for this assignment if
you fully explain a single theory and then describe
in detail how your song relates to it.
Citing a song in APA Style
Last Name, First Initial of writer. (Year of Copyright).
Title of song [Recorded by First Initial Last Name of
artist if different from the writer]. On Title of album
[Medium of Recording: CD, record, cassette].
Location of record label: Record label. (Recording
date if different from copyright date). All papers must be typed using APA style Feel free
