READ CAREFULLY!!!
As you write your narrative essay:
In the introduction
Make sure you have a good “hook”.
Make sure the thesis statement is “good” and clear stating 3 supporting points. Each body paragraph should focus on one supporting point with related supporting details.
Keep related supporting points and supporting details together.
Briefly summarize your essay in the conclusion paragraph. Can be more than one sentence.
Write a conclusion paragraph by restating the thesis using different words.
Let the last sentence relate back to the hook.
Remember: The narrative essay tells a story. It should include
Plot – unfolding of events told in chronological order
Characters – people or a person the event or story is about or who are in the story
Challenge/Conflict – problem, obstacle, conflict and/or good situation the characters experience
Theme – message or lesson of the story
Use vivid language and be as descriptive as possible.
Use chronological transitional words, i.e. afterwards, currently, in the meanwhile, eventually, when, since, later, until
Use your imagination; be creative and expressive.
