Use the drop down menu options to explore and then discuss the distribution of this disease/health indicator by gender, age group, race/ethnicity, household income, and education attained.
On the BRFSS Prevalence and Trends Data page, choose Explore BRFSS data by topic. Select the same Class, Topic, and question. Look at the map and find out where Kansas and South Dakota fall compared to each other. The class will discuss which states/regions seem to have the highest and lowest prevalence? Where does your assigned state fall?
Discuss why it is important to have this evidence and suggest how a public health expert might use this numerical information.
