·Paragraph #2: Research FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center). Why did FLETC remove the use of force continuum as a training tool? (Cite your resource in your own words).
·Paragraph #3: Did the officers apply the levels of control accurately? Explain each level of control that was observed in the video. Remember that the levels of control are the officers actions and not the subjects actions.
·Paragraph #4: Now that youve been introduced to a practice that is implemented in the organizations use of force policy, do you feel as if the officers violated Alton Sterling in the video? Explain why/why not. Please keep in mind that the officers were dispatched to Sterlings location and that they were not being proactive. The complainant stated that Sterling pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him if he did not leave the area. The location of the crime was in the parking lot of a store that was not owned by Sterling. The complainant described Sterlings appearance and clothing to the dispatcher while informing the dispatcher that the gun was located in Sterlings pocket.
·Paragraph #5: Was this your first time seeing this video? What is your overall opinion of the entire scenario? The Department of Justice also assisted with this case and revealed that the practice was appropriate and a part of the organizations use of force policy. However, the DOJ was not pleased with the vulgar language, which is not an action that would result in the termination or incarceration of the officer. This display of the use of force should be concerning for all of us.
