Assignment: Your paper will be over the novel youre doing your presentation over at the end of the semester. Your goal in this essay is to structure and develop an effective literary argument paper.
The introductory paragraph of the essay must contain a thesis statement that clearly states some central assertion regarding the assigned topic.
The topic sentence of the essays middle paragraphs must be assertions that support the thesis statement. These assertions must be supported and developed with details from the assigned reading presented in quotations or paraphrased. In all cases, you must explain the relevance of the developmental details to the points they are intended to support.
You will also demonstrate that you can abide by the general conventions of writing about literature, which are listed on the Writing About Literature handout.
