A folio consisting of completed problems and annotations, and online reading reflections. Weighting: 30%
Format: Folio and online reading forum
Purpose: The purpose of this task is to allow students to engage in a series of weekly problem solving and reflective writing tasks over the semester to provide students with opportunities to demonstrate a connected understanding of mathematical content, use of appropriate technology in problem solving, and understanding of how mathematics is a powerful thinking tool in making sense of the world.
Learning outcomes assessed: 1 and 4
How to submit: Problem folio should be submitted in hard copy in your tutorial and scanned and submitted online. Online Forum reflections will be automatically accessed by your tutor in Leo.
Return of assignment: Marked criteria sheets, and folio with written feedback will be available via email/LEO in Week 12
Assessment criteria: Demonstration and Communication of Mathematical Thinking and Understanding
Insightfulness of Reflection on Problem Solving

Outcomes 1 &
Component 1: Weekly Readings online
During this unit, you are required to read and reflect on the assigned readings (two readings per week). Some readings are from education professional journals, others from education research journals. You are expected to come to each workshop having engaged with and reflected on the readings.
There will be a Discussion Forum on LEO each week for you to discuss what you have learnt from these readings weekly. EDMA369 Exploring Mathematics 2 is about your learning of mathematics. You may choose to discuss what you learnt, especially as related to related to each reading, or what you found particularly interesting, or you may want to pose a question that arose from the reading or reply to someone else’s contribution.
Your lecturer and/or tutor will provide feedback on reading discussion submissions within the first four weeks of the Semester. Please read and consider any comments made by your tutor to assist with future submissions.
NB. Re-reading selected portions of the readings and reflecting on your ideas and the contributions of others in the Discussion Forums about the mathematics involved, will further deepen your understanding.
Component 2: Problem Solutions and Reflections on Learning
Throughout the semester you will be completing mathematics tasks from Modules A -C. You will be advised in Week 8 of the 6 questions from the first three of these Modules that need to be submitted. These questions will be submitted as a hard-copy in your tutorial of Week 10 as well as being scanned and submitted online. You will be required to submit a reflection on your learning for each of Modules A, B and C (500 words per reflection) in which you discuss what you have learnt, with the inclusion of supportive literature.
